Support Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday is November 25!

Just a reminder that many of the small businesses in Murrells Inlet, Litchfield, and Pawleys Island are hugely supportive of the Waccamaw Library and FOWL. They are always ready to donate gift certificates and goods and services to our annual luncheon and auction. Many of the local restaurants provide pastries and appetizers for our members-only and open-to-the-public events. Gift certificates from any of them are always welcome!

We can't list them all, but here are a few that have been in our corner all year long, so we'd like to be in theirs on this special day:
  • Art Works in the Litchfield Exchange is chock-full of charming one-of-a-kind gifts by local artists at reasonable prices for everyone on your list (lots of "guy gifts"), plus five new books authored by local writers and published by CLASS Publishing. (ClassAtPawleys.com)
  • The Friends Center at the Waccamaw Library has like-new used books and special seasonal gifts. And while you're there, pick up your tickets for the FOWL Holiday Happening (Lee Brockington and Bill Oberst reading their Christmas favorites, while you nibble holiday cookies and sip wassail). Tickets are $35 each and all the proceeds go toward the naming of the "Sister" Peterkin Room and the South Georgetown starter book collection.(www.thefowl.org)
  • Litchfield Books, located in Fresh Market Commons, has all the newest book releases, as well as the finest collection of high- end stationery and novelty gifts in the area. (LitchfieldBooks.com)
  • My Sister's Books (13057 Ocean Hwy, Unit C) is celebrating its 15th Anniversary with a customer-appreciation open house from 10 am to 3 pm. There will be give-aways, refreshments, and local authors Tanya Ackerman, Lynne Ford, Richard Lake, and Amy Webb. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Dragon Boat at the Beach, a cancer survivor program. (MySistersBooks.com)
In this season of gratitude, let's show our thanks to the small businesses that employ so many local people.  So get out there and shop locally on Small Business Saturday. (And we don't mean sitting at your computer in your jammies and bunny slippers and shopping online!!!)

Thank you so much for supporting FOWL and the Friends Center.  The Library is so much better because you care!
