Correction to June 15 Community Connector

What's happening on the Waccamaw Neck ~ compliments of the Friends of Waccamaw Library!

Luckily, we don't have to do this very often! But on occasion, I miss the most recent updated information on an event. In this case the Waccamaw Library's free movie series in JULY should read as follows:

July Movie Nights are offered FREE at the Waccamaw Library on Fridays (PG-rated films) and Saturdays (R-rated films) at 6:30 PM. Contact sbremner@gtcounty.org.

Saturday, July 16:  Spotlight (R)
This is the riveting true story of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Boston Globe investigation that would rock the city and cause a crisis in one of the world's oldest and most trusted institutions: the Catholic Church.

Friday, July 22: The Hundred-Foot Journey (PG)
After a tragedy, talented Indian cook Hassan arrives in France hoping for new beginnings. For Hassan, a romance soon ensues with young Marguerite. But culinary competition with a top-notch restaurant just across the street complicates things wonderfully.

Saturday, July 23:  Concussion (R)
In Pittsburgh, the accomplished pathologist Dr. Bennet Omalu uncovers the truth about brain damage in football players who suffered repeated concussions in the course of normal play.

Friday, July 29: The Great Santini (PG)
In this coming-of-age story based on the late Pat Conroy's book, Ben Meechum strives to win approval from his demanding father, a competitive but frustrated Marine pilot who dominates his family until a final flight.

Saturday, July 30:  Creed (R)
The former World Heavyweight Champion Rocky Balboa serves as a trainer and mentor to Adonis Johnson, the son of his late friend and fomer rival Apollo Creed.

For those disappointed that "Trumbo" is not among those offered, check out THIS weekend's marquee for the Strand Cinema!

Friday & Saturday, June 17-18
2:30 and 7 PM - The Strand Cinema has resumed operation after renovations to the theater on Front Street in Georgetown. Special Request:
The Friends Center Needs New Books and Kids' Books. Sales at the Friends Center have been so good lately that we're running low on our two most popular items: newer books and children's books!  If you have any of either gathering dust at your house, please bring them to the Center and we'll be happy to take them off your hands!  The annual July Book Sale is coming up July 7 - 9, so help us fill the shelves at the Friends Center in advance of the big event!
