FOWL Gives the Waccamaw Library

More Than $55,000 Annually,

Thanks to Friends Like You

This money helps pay for programs, equipment, materials, books and ebooks and it comes from the generous support of locals and visitors alike. With an average of 55 new library cards issued monthly, the library needs FOWL. Help us keep the Waccamaw Library community thriving:

  • Become a Friend of the Waccamaw Library (memberships range from $35 for an individual to $5,000 business sponsorships). Get a free hardcover book from the Friends Center (bookstore) when you join or renew at the $100 level or above.

  • Support FOWL fundraisers, such as the annual Summer Book Sale in June and the Fall FOWL Luncheon in October.

  • Shop the Friends Center (pictured below), the FOWL bookstore that is inside the Waccamaw Library. Find great hardcover books at terrific prices as well as unique gift items and art.
  • Shop the bookshelves inside the Litchfield Exchange at 14363 Ocean Hwy, Pawleys Island (pictured below). Offering a variety of beach reads and books to round out your home library, there are treasures to be found and prices you won't believe.

A Glorious Cause Series:

"Revolutionary War Shipwreck

in the Cooper River"

Dive beneath the surface with Dr. Sara Rich, maritime archaeologist and professor at the Rhode Island School of Design, as she uncovers the remarkable story of a Revolutionary War–era shipwreck hidden in South Carolina’s Cooper River. Dr. Rich shares her archaeological findings, the historical significance of the vessel, and the delicate process of documenting underwater cultural heritage.

Volunteer or Share Your Ideas.

Garden Help: We need volunteers to help our Garden Keepers weed around the library. One hour of your time will help us keep the landscaping beautiful.

Procure Auction Items: The October Fall FOWL Luncheon will be here before you know it. This annual event is a favorite because there are hundreds of auction items and door prizes. Help us make this our best luncheon yet. Ask stores and restaurants for donations or gift certificates we can use in the silent and live auctions, as well as for special giveaways.

Pop-Up Book Shop: We can sell our excess stash of donated books at local community events, craft shows, and even outside of restaurants and stores. We need your help identifying locales. If you know a business owner who might be interested in allowing FOWL to set up a table and sell $1 books to benefit the library, please let us know. And if you want a shift running the table, send us an email.
